Earlier today, December 7, we've been informed by the developers behind the cross-platform, proprietary and free Vivaldi web browser about the immediate availability for download and testing of a new snapshot release.

According to the attached release notes, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.344.5 includes two new features, the ability to set the minimum font size for viewing web pages, as well as a default character encoding. "Today's snapshot gives you the option of setting the minimum font size and a default character encoding," said Ruarí Ødegaard.

In future snapshots, the Vivaldi developers promise to implement even more font-related settings, but in the meantime, you can access the new font settings via the "Global font settings" section under Tools -> Settings (Preferences) -> Web Pages -> Fonts.

In addition to the new font settings, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.344.5 addresses several issues reported by users since the previous version, such as a regression with the bookmarks, broken saving of password functionality, and support for displaying keyboard shortcuts in both the context menus and Vivaldi's main menu.

Based on Chromium 47.0.2526.80

The web browser has been rebased on Chromium 47.0.2526.80, the sorting of the language list now works correctly under the Unicode encoding, the toolbar styling has been cleaned up, the Ctrl+k keyboard shortcut works as expected, the Esc key no longer creates Tab Stack, and keyboard shortcuts now work during the loading of tabs.

Last but not least, mouse events are no longer canceled when inputs are being disabled, and it is now possible to navigate back in history of a web page by clicking backspace in the panel.
